The energy industry is facing increasing pressure from investors and other stakeholders to address climate issues as part of robust ESG reporting. We help oil and gas companies address investor concerns with a simple approach to ESG that is focused on what's really important, while creating value through environmental excellence including incremental revenue that can be achieved through certification.
Roy D. Hartstein
Founder and Managing Director
Roy Hartstein, the Founder and Managing Director of Responsible Energy Solutions, is driven to help companies find the value in “doing the right things”. He has led companies to achieve “Freshwater Neutral”, offsetting their use of freshwater by improving water quality and availability, established methane management initiatives for production operations and pioneered the implementation of the first U.S. “certified gas” transaction. He combines these experiences with leading oil and gas companies, both upstream and midstream operators, in implementing ESG strategies focused on key areas of material value and environmental risk mitigation.
Hartstein has spoken frequently on resource development including presentations on certified gas markets, corporate responsibility, water management and methane emissions management. Recent presentations include the RFF Webinar on "Green Gas", 2020 ADI Forum, 2019 ONE Future Climate and Methane Strategies Summit, 2018 World Gas Conference in Washington, DC; 2018 SPE Workshop on Environmental Stewardship in Unconventional Resource Development; and IGU Methane Conference at COP23 in Bonn, Germany.
As the Chairman of the International Gas Union's Group of Experts on Methane Emissions from 2016 to 2018, he led global discussions about methane among leading natural gas organizations. He also chaired the IGU Sustainability Committee working group on Methane Emissions, leading to the World Gas Conference in Washington, DC in June of 2018.
J.D. brings technical expertise in upstream and midstream air quality processes and emissions reporting. He has served as an air quality and HSE manager over multiple US operations and most recently led the corporate HSE remediation, air quality, and environmental teams at Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. While serving in the corporate HSE management role, he was responsible for preparing corporate emissions reports, coordinating air quality research projects, and supporting ESG and other stakeholder reporting efforts. He has also served as a project lead for firms in environmental consulting, process analytical engineering, and construction sectors.

Jordan served as technical advisor for numerous methane quantification / measurement studies (e.g. DOE RPSEA MONITOR, UT Production Sector Methane Study, CSU Gathering and Booster Methane Study; Fayetteville Aerially Directed LDAR surveys and others). He also served as a U.S industry representative on behalf of the U.S EPA in meetings with China to develop and implement GHG emissions inventories and mitigation strategies. He has provided expertise in developing and implementing ESG strategies focusing on GHG and methane intensities for Southwestern Energy, Newfield, and Ovintiv (Encana). While employed as Director Environmental Programs at SWN he assisted in the development of the ONE Future Coalition and SWN’s “certified gas” initiative.
